Ever Tasted Luscious?

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings

Luscious.  Say it very slowly.  Just saying the word feels sensual.  The original meaning had to do with food.  It was used in reference to vittles that were sweet and pleasant to taste or smell. However, it has also come to mean strong sensual or sexual appeal.  You can have luscious lips or a luscious lychee.

My new piece is titled “Luscious Lemon”.  We typically do not think of this yellow citrus fruit as sweet, but there is a variety that grows well in Florida.  It is called a Meyer’s lemon and I’ve just planted a tree!  They are fragrant and have a sweeter, less acidic flavor than the more common Lisbon or Eureka supermarket lemon varieties.  You can peel and eat these beauties.  They are native to China and thought to be a cross between a true lemon and either a mandarin or common orange.  The orange in the mix…

Circles Making Love and Abstract Patterns

I love circles. They are one of my favorite shapes and in this artwork I have drawn many of them. I am really enjoying the “full of life” colors here and the many subtle layers of vivid experience. I see color as representing events and feelings. My world is lived in a language of colorful thoughts and emotions and I attempt to express this with my artwork. In this particular piece I am seeing red circles merging into each other to create a new life. The explosion of it all is expressed outside of this connection and births more shades of new living. In between all of it is the beauty that expresses what I cannot with words. An encounter with all of what I am and not just what I see. So here my circles make love and create abstract patterns 🙂 Have…

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky. – Rabindranath Tagore

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time. – John Lubbock

The rocky mountains form the Continental Divide, separating rivers draining to the Atlantic and Arctic oceans from those draining to the Pacific. RMNP spans 265,769 acres of pristine wilderness (358 square miles), making it one of the largest national parks in the United States.  Before 1978, there were very few moose in Rocky Mountain National Park. In 1978 and 1979, 24 moose were relocated from Wyoming, and…

All My Exes Live In Texas…

Way cool!

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings

Actually they live in Florida, but that doesn’t rhyme. 😉  I have been to Texas a few times during the Winter months.  I thought I might find love there, but It was just cold and brown.  While I am working on some maps, I decided that this one should definitely be colorful!  I’ve been seeing a lot of map wall art lately.  People love them because they are traditional and add a touch of sophistication to any room.  Abstract art on the other hand can be a bit scary for a lot of people.  I’ve combined the traditional with the modern to create a map that anyone can hang and enjoy. 🙂

Here are some interesting facts about this big state:

  1. Texas is popularly known as The Lone Star State.
  2. The Alamo is located in San Antonio. It is where Texas defenders fell to Mexican General Santa Anna and the…

Abstract Ball of Energy

I created a ball of energy and then studied it closely. See the molten core of the center. Feel the heat melting sensory awareness into total calm surrender. I really enjoy the earth tones that ground the energy and the vibrant pink that brings it all to life. I see renewal and hope along with intense awakening here. I love the light bulb of inspiration that birthed this digital creation and the warm colors that soothe my senses. I am really enjoying creating abstract patterns lately and I hope you enjoy them as well. Namaste 🙂
