My Dark Side

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings

My work tends to focus on bright and vivid colors.  The brighter the better as far as I am concerned.  I am not afraid of red and orange and use them copiously within my paintings.  So it is definitely “different” for me to produce darker imagery.  But I do have a “dark side” and enjoy eliciting a feeling from my viewers using just shadow, highlights and shape.

The piece displayed above titled “Revelation” started as a photograph of a Nambe bowl which is a solid shiny silver.  I then used a variety of processing to achieve the end result.  It “revealed” itself to me and now I to you.  Enjoy!

 Green Buddha

Awesome!

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings

“Green Buddha” is one my best selling pieces in my popular Stone Rock’d Art series.  These are so much fun for me to create.  A nice change from the wet messy paint slinging.  For many years now I have created and sold a series called “Labor Of Love”.  They are hand painted and meticulously detailed in a fine paint pen.  They take many hours and days to complete.  I love “recycling” my work and coming up with new ideas to continue the spirit of my art.  Stone Rock’d art is just that a reincarnation of my Labor of Love patterns onto digital paintings.  Enjoy!

I consider myself a spiritual person who takes positive tenants from all religions. I believe we truly are all ONE.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. Buddha

The first sign that you are a tourist in New Orleans is if you pronounce it as N’awlins. Locals actually pronounce the city name as New Awlins.  That would totally be me, though I will try not to make that mistake on my next visit. 😉

I do not know a lot about Louisiana other than the French Quarter and the Art’s District in New Orleans.  I am pretty much all about the food and art.  I like both to be bold and colorful.  And the food spicy and hot!  This great city does not disappoint in either of those areas.  Next time, I’d like to see more of the Garden District and Algiers.  You will not find me at Mardi Gras as I tend to shy away from large crowds of drunk people.  That’s just me.

Some interesting facts about Louisiana:
