Calla Lily – Featured Art Print

My featured Art Print this week is “Calla Lily” done in black and white from my Black and White Photography Two Gallery.

Calla LilyCalla Lily

I love the simplicity and elegance of their bloom. When we lived in San Diego, we had a couple of “groups” of calla lilies scattered throughout our flower garden area. They would bloom proficiently in the winter months with the cooler temperate climate along the coastal regains of Southern California. The winter before we moved, I had this one loner pop up in an area of the garden where I didn’t think I had any winter flowers. A small leaf popped up and then this tall elegant bloom all by itself.

I love the calla lily in black and white. It highlights the shape and purity of the white bloom. In this shot you can see great detail even down to the minor imperfections on the blossom…

Bridge Framework

Architectural objects have always attracted me because of their use of geometry. The collection of lines and shapes creates intersections, which I believe are the starting points for art. Where things meet, tension occurs. Where the combination of the objects come together, be they lines, shapes or texture, something new now exists.
The attached image is the result of focus stacking, three images focused at different points along the structure and merged in Photoshop. Shot with Canon 7D, Tamron 60mm f/2 lens, ISO 100, f/4.0, using aperture priority.

American Buffalo Art Print

American Buffalo, with a textured USA American Flag background.  The American bison (Bison bison), also commonly known as the American buffalo, is a North American species of bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in massive herds, became nearly extinct by a combination of commercial hunting and slaughter in the 19th century and introduction of bovine diseases from domestic cattle, and has made a recent resurgence largely restricted to a few national parks and reserves.

American bison live in river valleys, and on prairies and plains. Typical habitat is open or semi-open grasslands, as well as sagebrush, semi-arid lands and scrub-lands. Some lightly wooded areas are also known historically to have supported bison. Bison will also graze in hilly or mountainous areas where the slopes are not steep.
