Strutting his Stuff

Through My Lens

I just returned from spending four days in Idaho with family to attend our granddaughter’s high school graduation.  We had a wonderful time and spent one day at Yellowstone Bear World in Rexburg, Idaho (see website here). It’s a wonderful place to bring the kids and being the animal lover I am, I had a photographic field day.

This peacock was in the petting zoo and most of the day was sitting on top of a small building.  Just before we left in the afternoon, he started showing off to a female nearby and displayed his full plumage. He then did a 360 degree turn to show us all his glory. I’m so glad I didn’t miss that.

Learning Long Exposures (2 photos)

Laura Macky Photography

Yesterday morning I met my good friend Dan Shehan for some long exposure lessons.  We zipped on over (hahahahah there really is no zipping in SF) to Baker Beach for some practice with the water.  In the past, I have really only done two long exposures and those were sort of lucky shots, so I wanted to know exactly how to do them from the zen master himself!  lol

While these aren’t the best, I felt they weren’t bad for my “real” first try.  I’m excited to see what else I can do.  For those interested, I used a 10-stop ND filter.
